September 26 1998 Hats off to L'Hiver
Custom top-hat maker extrordinaire,
H.W. de Winter named his business, L'Hiver, after his namesake in French,
the country where his craft originated. Better known as "Boy", a nickname
he picked up as a child from American soldiers staying in his home. H.W.
chuckles as he explains how the soldiers would call "Hey, boy, get me
cigarettes, chocolates . . . " And the name stayed with him. Read more about "Boy" as you follow this illustrated story of hatmaking from the 1998 Dressage at Devon coverage. |
