December 4 1998 USDF Grand Prix Horse of the Year, Graf George Competes For the Last Time Under Guenter
Seidel, the Hanoverian gelding Graf George (by Graphit x More Magic xx)
placed ninth in the individual 1998 WEG Rankings. With three scores in
the range of 70%, Guenter Seidel was the top scoring American rider at
WEG this year. Graf George's international success started at the 1992 Olympic Games of Barcelona where he and Michael Poulin were on the Bronze medal winning team. Four years later the gray gelding entered the Olympic arena again, ridden by Guenter Seidel. Along with the performances of Udon, Peron and Metallic, Graf George was able to reconquer the bronze team medal. Graf George will now reside in Carlsbad, CA at the home of his owners, Richard and Jane Brown. In his retirement, he will be ridden as long as he pleases. The 1998 WEG in Rome was his final competition. For more photos of Graf George, go to the Phelps Photo database and search by horse. For more photos of Michael Poulin, search by rider.
