July 7 1999 Arjen Teeuwissen and Yakumo's Goliath Arjen Teeuwissen and Yakumo's Goliath the bronze medallists of The
European Championships, are the surprise of the Dutch team. In June, he
was the first male Dutch dressage champion after 22 years of female victories.
Two weeks later this pupil of Anky van Grunsven and Sjef Janssen showed
his strong performance at Aachen, where he was on of the most promising
contestants in international competition. His horse Yakumo's Goliath (1988) is a KWPN gelding by Zebulon (x Nieuwport) has impressive movements. He combines the scope of his movements with an ability to easily collect himself in the piaffe, and has enormous strength from behind. Goliath's breeder is A.B. van Riemsdijk, of Ochten the Netherlands. Arjen himself with the help of Anky van Grunsven choreographed his medal winning freestyle. Theo van Bruggen (Adsoft Horsedances) adapted the music that was composed by Louis Cobos for the WEG 2002 in Jerez. With a Spanish sound, the castanets suit Goliath very well and emphasize the natural rhythm of his movements. Sponsored by Yakumo Computer firm, Teeuwissen co owns Goliath with Frank Garritsen. |
