Imke Bartels and Olympic Barbria

Imke and Barbria The 22-year-old from Hooge Mierde in Holland is the daughter of Olympic dressage rider Tineke Bartels and the former three-day-event rider Dr. Joep Bartels.

Taking her mother's place in the saddle of the talented KWPN mare, Olympic Barbria (1983) by Doruto out of Ibria by Amor, Imke won the 'Dressurprufung Grand Prix - Kurzversion' Sunday, June 20 at the 1999 62nd CHIO Aachen with a 65.66%.

Placing consistently high in the standings of the European Young Rider's Championships since 1995, her strong performance at Aachen earned her the reserve position for The Dutch Team at the European Championships that followed two weeks later.
