Dr. Reiner
Klimke lost his fight for life Tuesday night, after suffering a massive
heart attack 10 days ago. His death come as a severe shock as he apparently
was doing well, and appeared to be improving. When greatness is bestowed on an individual, there is also a responsibility attached to that greatness, and Dr. Reiner Klimke recognized that responsibility. He shared his knowledge, philosophy and love of horses with a generosity that is unmatched by any other in the sport. The equestrian world mourns the loss of legend Dr. Reiner Klimke, the only rider in any discipline to win six Olympic Gold Medals.
