August 23 1999 Gwen Poulin and Fuerst Paldi
Eighteen
year old Gwen Poulin, from DeLeon Springs, FL, surprised audience and
fellow competitors by claiming the individual silver at the 1999 North
American Young Riders' Championships. Poulin already showed flashes of
her potential and competitive mind during the Dressage in Florida circuit
which organized several NAYRC qualifiers. By scoring an approximate average
of 65% in the selection shows Gwen and her mount Fuest Paldi hooked up
for the Region 3 team. At Tempel Farms the pair scored 63.00% (9th place)
in the preliminary, won the team championship test (68.67%) and was thus
the biggest contributor for the team gold medal. In the individual finals
they set a 67.53% score, claiming second position and the silver medal.
Fuerst Paldi, a massive Westphalian gelding, is owned by Judith Thompson and Michael Poulin and was purchased in Switzerland at Daniel Ramseier's stable. Related links More NAYRC News |
