Nissan Gigolo Wins First Outing Since Injury

Nissan Gigolo In addition to the official World Cup qualifiers (Short Grand Prix and Kur to Music)at the CDI-W Stuttgart, two more Grand Prix tests were ridden. These were both won by the world famous reigning Olympic Gold Medalist, Nissan Gigolo. Gigolo, a 16 year old Hanoverian gelding by Graditz, retreated from the competition circuit June 1999 due to a pulled tendon.

While press and critics claimed that the "Isabell Werth Era" was over with Gigolo's injury, Werth proved the opposite in Stuttgart. With 78.20% the Hanoverian once again dominated the Grand Prix. Werth's European Gold Medal teammate, Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty were second with a 74.29%. In the Grand Prix Special, Werth led again (77.40%) but she had Salzgeber closer on her heels (75.21%).

In both tests Lone Jorgenson gathered the third position scores. The Danish rider who lives in Germany rode her steady horse FBW Kennedy, a Baden Wurttemberger chestnut by Tiro.
