In Memoriam, Amaloper 
At the end of February 2000, another great dressage horse passed away. Amaloper, a Hessian stallion bred by Wilfried Schšnhals from Rabenau, Germany, suffered a series of slight seizures and was in danger of hurting people and himself. While travelling south to Florida, Amaloper (by Amalfi out of Levade) was detected with a heart condition and got submitted to the Gainsville veterinarian clinic. Team vet Dr Denys Frappier was consulted and every effort was made to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, the seizures became more violent and the horse had to be humanely put down.
Owned and ridden by Martina Pracht, Amaloper made a successful combination with her Canadian partner. As a member of the Canadian Team at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, Amaloper and Pracht contributed an important part to their team score and finished at an individual 11th place. Martina Pracht is the daughter of former Canadian Dressage Chef d'Equipe Eva Marie Pracht and granddaughter of the legendary German dressage trainer Josef Neckermann. "Amaloper and Martina, a former North American Young Rider Champion, made a beautiful pair and represented Canada admirably," Sharon Brooks reported with deep sorrow when announcing the news.
