Michael Barisone and Safir
Winning the Grand Prix USET Qualifier at the Heidelburg Cup Dressage Show March 24, with a 65.4% were the dynamic combination of Safir and Michael Barisone. The twelve year old Dutch Warmblood mare by Diamond out of Hexa by May Sherif, owned by Sue Thomas, has always shown tremendous talent and brilliant movement, particularly in the trot and piaffe-passage work.
Incredibly sensitive and sometimes nervous and insecure, Barisone has nurtured Safir's talents, with a patient and caring approach, bringing her to a level of achievement many would have questioned possible two years ago. A USET team veteran, Barisone has set his sights on the USET Final Selection Trials recently moved to Walter and Maryanne McPhail's Equestrian Estates, in Loxahatchee, Florida to be held May 13-14, and 20-21. Recently married to Dutch rider Vera Kessels, Barisone also competes her Grand Prix horse Dotato, a KWPN Dutch Warmblood by Zeoliet out of Sandra by Hooghied. Photo by JJ.
