Christine Traurig and Etienne

Chritine Traurig and Etienne Looks like a return trip to Europe for Christine Traurig and Robert and Colleen Haas's Etienne the magnificent 18 hand Westphalian by Ehrentusch out of Andora. After their brilliant performance the past two weekends in Florida at the USET Dressage Selection Trials for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, their overall place in the top five will assure them a ticket back to her native Germany along with the other top four competitors.

The 1998 USET Intermediare Champion opted to train in Europe with Johann Hinnemann rather than stay on American soil and pursue what would have probably been a sure spot on the 1999 Pan-American Games Dressage Team. Their strategy paid off as they gained valuable experience facing the sometimes-intimidating challenges of international competition.

Crediting Steffan Peters with helping her since her return to America, Traurig is now packing her bags and tack trunk to continue on the final leg of the selection process which will be held in Arnhem, the Netherlands, June 22-25, and the following weekend in Germany at Bad Honnef Dressage.
