July 3 2000 Americans Headed Back to the States
While the
official announcement from the United States Equestrian Team has yet to
be released, the line up for the Dressage Team to ride in the Olympic
Games according to the scores is now done. The top five riders that placed in the Selection Trials held in Florida in May were sent to Europe where they competed along with several other countries whose fate is yet to be decided. The final trial held this past weekend at the beautiful setting of Parkfestival, Bad Honnef Dressage, created an idyllic setting for the nerve wracking process the riders and horses have been under all year. Sue Blinks and Flim Flam won the Grand Prix with Christine Traurig and Etienne, placing second in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Special. Guenter Seidel and Foltaire won the Freestyle, and Robert Dover and the nine-year-old Rainier continued to gain experience. Kathleen Raine is in the reserve position.
