Dover's Plan

Robert Dover and Rainier Olympic veteran Robert Dover left Bad Honnef, Germany, Sunday July 1 and headed straight for a short holiday vacation in Fire Island, New York to take before resuming his training in preparation for his fifth Olympic Games in Sydney. "I plan on doing as many shows in the northeast as I can before we go into quarantine in California." Dover told DressageDaily on the scene in Germany.

"We all have to be honest with ourselves and work hard if we are to be contenders for a medal in Sydney." said Dover, who has been nursing a painful back problem for which he has scheduled surgery in October immediately after the Olympic Games.

While the Americans did well in the placings in both Arnhem and Bad Honnef, they did not face much of the strong competition they will be meeting with in Sydney. At major European shows it is not uncommon to have scores in the upper 70's through six places. No American has scored a 70% in the Grand Prix during the European tour. Sue Blinks in Arnhem placed third in the Grand Prix Special with a 72.23%, and Seidel reached a 70.35% in the Freestyle in Bad Honnef.
