Klimke's Windfall Voted Horse of the Year

Ingrid Klimke and Windfall Windfall, the eight -year-old graded Trakhener stallion of reigning German Eventing champion, Ingrid Klimke (32), was voted "Horse of the Year" on the Thursday, at the CHIO Aachen. Windfall is also the youngest to be voted this honor by the readers of the equestrian magazine Reiter Revue International.

Ingrid Klimke, who last winter trained the Belgian event riders in dressage, is the daughter of the late Reiner Klimke, one of the all time maestros of dressage. Dr. Klimke was on the German Eventing team as well, before devoting his riding career to dressage, and competed on the grandfather of Windfall during his eventing career.

Ingrid Klimke, the 1999 German Eventing Champion, won the 2000 German Championships in Achselschwang, and is qualified for the Olympic games in Sydney with both Windfall, and the grey nine-year-old thoroughbred, Sleep Late.

As the rain continues, so does the second half of the Grand Prix, Dressage with Isabelle Werth and Nissan Gigolo in the lead with a 76.28%. American Carrie Schopf and Ikhtisas, are in 12th place with a 66.92%.
