July 14 2000 The Fabulous Farbenfroh
Spectators
at the Aachen CHIO got a preview of the German Dressage Team as they finished
first through fourth during the Coastriders Grand Prix sponsored by the
American owned company with President Tess Gilder making the presentation.
Finishing fourth, with a 74.16% was the crowd favorite, Nadine Capellmann's Farbenfroh, the ten year old Westphalian gelding. With his breathtaking extended trots, and a passage that reaches heights in the knee action more like a grand prix showjumper, the young and often hot tempered son of Freudentaenzer, kept his cool, as the German selectors looked on. Both Isabel Werth's Nissan Gigolo, who were first (76.28%) and Ulla Salzgeber's Rusty, in third (74.56%) had spooky moments in the Aachen CHIO dressage arena, but displayed the seasoned expertise a well as peak conditioning. Hometown girl, Alexandra Simons-de-Ridder and the Holsteiner Chacomo 3, by Calypso were second, rounding off the all woman German team. Both Americans, Lisa Wilcox and Rohdiamant, the Oldenburg Stallion by the recently deceased Rubenstein, and Carrie Schopf and the Holsteiner mare Ikhtisas, of unknown breeding, were 14th and 17th respectively, in a field of 37 starters in the number one rated horse show in the world.
