German Women Repeat Olympic History

German Dressage Team In 1956, in Stockholm, Sweden, the first all women team from Germany resulted in a team silver medal, and the first individual bronze medal for Liselott Linsenhoff. Linsenhoff went on to be the first woman dressage rider to win the individual gold medal at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. Linsenhoff passed away August 4, 1999 and was recently memorialized during the Aachen CHIO when she was presented with "Prize of the City of Aachen" posthumously.

With the team selected for the 2000 Sydney Games, Germany once again has an all female line up. Shown during a victory round at Aachen are (from left to right) Alexandra Simons-de Ridder, Nadine Capellmann, and Isabelle Werth. Not shown is the fourth team member, Ulla Salzgeber, and reserve rider Heike Kemmer.
