October 1 2000 Oh What A Night
Only in America
and only at Dressage at Devon can there be a night like Saturday's Freestyle
class. Along with a full class of Grand Prix Freestyle performances, the
packed stands at the Devon showgrounds were entertained by Brian O'Connor
and his inflatable horse, and the drag crew in drag. Combining the tradition of the 25th Anniversary of one of the oldest most prestigious dressage competitions in America, with some new ideas, the crowd filled the stands on a perfect Indian summer night. Celebrating the American Olympic Dressage Team's Bronze medal, as well as the show announcer, Brian O'Connor's brother David individual Olympic Gold, the classical and irreverent blended well together, with a night of fun and great American dressage. Those who have seen the infamous performance of Brian O'Connor and his inflatable horse demonstrate the grand prix movements, had the added attraction of a pas de deux with Silke Rambacz and her 18+ hand Oldenburg, Summit.
