Thursday August 16, 2001 Anna Merveldt-Steffens and Darius
Anna Merveldt-Steffens ( known as "Peetzy" ) is 38 years of age and lives in Munich with her German husband Christian and their young son Philip. Christian is a veterinary surgeon. Anna represented Ireland at the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm in 1990. Two years later she qualified for the last sixteen at the Barcelona Olympics and ended up in eleventh place overall. She placed sixth individually at the W.E.G. in the Hague in 1994. During her career Anna has won the GPS at Frauenfeld CDI, Munich CDI, Rotterdam CDIO, Spangenberg CDI and Frankfurt CDI. Her trainer is Johann Hinnemann. She returned to international competition in May 2000 having taken 1999 off to have her son Philip. She won the Bavarian Championships with Darius 213 last year and placed 2nd in the GPS at Monza in Italy. Anna won the "Irish Field" dressage rider of the year award for 2000. Her international outings have been very restricted this year due to the foot and mouth problems. She placed 7th in the GPS at the Munich CDI*** at the end of May. Horse. Darius
