Devon
Breed Show Ends With Hilltop On Top
The
third day of 2001 Dressage at Devon was packed with a virtually endless
serie of breed division classes in which mares, geldings, stallions,
fillies and colts were judges breed by breed. Iron Spring Farm dominated
the Dutch warmblood classes, while Hilltop Farm reigned in the Holsteiner,
Hanoverian and ISR/Oldenburg divisions. However, a horse does not have
to originate from a fancy breeding barn to make a win at Devon. Floridian
Jan Williams conquered in the Oldenburg Verband Class with Rodioso (by
Rohdiamant) and Lyndon Rife and Jan Lewis' Willkommen Q (by Weltbekant)
received the blue ribbon in the Hanoverian (3 years and over) class.
The Devon
Breed Show kept an open perspective towards the non-traditional dressage
breeds and had classes inserted in its program for colored sport horses,
Haflingers, Appaloosas and more.
The
afternoon program was filled with materiale classes, which are special
model and gaits classes under saddle. The 3-year-old Filly Materiale
was won by the Hanoverian Decuma (Davignon x Weltmeyer) from Marefield
Meadows. The Oldenburger Royal Star (Royal Diamond x Roncalli), owned
by Mary Lou Sullivan, was leader in the colts materiale. The titles
in the 4 and 5-year-old Materiale classes went to Bertrand Page's Hanoverian
Weltlady (Weltmeyer x Werther) and Carole Lawrence's Oldenburg Ruffian
(Rubinstein I x Inschallah AA).
The 2001
Dressage at Devon Breed Show came to an end round 10 PM Thursday evening
with the Cosequin / USDF Young Horse and Mature Horse Championship.
Judges Gurney, Brown, Felgendreher and Haring offered Hilltop Farm's
Ria D'Or (Riverman x Cor Noir) the Young Horse Champion's title and
Hilltop Farm's Capricia (Caprimond x Lungau) the Mature Horse Champion's
Title. 2001 Dressage at Devon was a Veni-Vidi-Vici for Hilltop Farm!
