Region Three Wins Team Gold with Michael Shondel In the Lead at 2003 North American Young Riders Championships

Michael ShondelFor 20-year old Michael Shondel the 2003 North American Young Riders' Championships kicked off to a great start. Riding his own Hanoverian Wallaby, by Werther out of Gondola, Michael won the Wednesday dressage class, the Team Championships test, with a 67.111%. Shondel, who lives in Ocala, FL and is trained by Cesar Parra, beat Lindsay Koffler on Alfredo.

19-year old Lindsay Koffler scored 66. 222% on her 2002 acquisition Alfredo. The dark bay Alfredo is also a Hanoverian, but by Akzent I out of Witoscha. In third place were Elisabeth Austin and the KWPN licensed stallion Hierarch (Cocktail x Amor). With 66.089%, Austin produced a solid test and can be considered a medal hopeful for the individual final.

In the Team Championship Competition, Region 3 won the team gold for the third year in a row. Region 1 claimed silver, while Region 2 earned bronze.
