Jodie Kelly's Young Rider Weekend

Jodie Kelly of Destin Florida, is passing on a trip to watch the Olympic Games in Athens this summer, to compete in her last year at the North American Young Rider's Championships in her quest for an individual medal.

In Wellington for the winter with eight horses, Kelly is training with Betsy Steiner. Aboard her Weltkaar, whom she co-owns with her mother, Laurie Kelly, won the Young Rider Team Test, earning 63.467% to top the class of 10.

Kelly later claimed her second win in the Young Riders, besting a field of 11 horses with Weltkaar a 13-year-old Hannoverian gelding by Weltmeyer, on a score of 67.250%.

Jodie Kelly was also successful in the lower levels, showing on another mount.

She won the First Level Test 1 AA & Jr/YR aboard her mare On Broadway, earning 70.741%.

On Sunday, she won First Level Test 4 AA Jr/YR, on a score of 74.815% – which was the High Score of the show.

Perhaps even more meaningful to her, than her CDI Young Rider success, Jodie has a special affection for the beautiful mare by Juventus she has owned since purchasing her as a foal in Holland.
