Petersen and Parra Wrap Up 2004 Dressage at Devon

Lars Petersen"Kong Christian stod ved højen mast," (King Christian Stood by High Mast) is the name of the Danish National Anthem and visitors of 2004 Dressage at Devon had to hear it twice during Devon weekend.

Danish Grand Prix rider Lars Petersen won the Grand Prix Special on Sunday riding a more controlled test on his electric Dansko's Success (Silvermoon x World Cup I). In the Special, the grey Danish warmblood gelding kept his cool and the judges rewarded Petersen's ride with a score of 68.480%.

It was Petersen's second win aboard Success and his third victory of the weekend, after having topped the leader board in the 6-year FEI Young Horse class with a dream horse called Dacardo.

For all the FEI classes at 2004 Dressage at Devon, the American national anthem was only heard in the youth divisions. Young Rider Catherine Malone, junior rider Ana DiGeronomi and FEI Pony riders Julia Warstler and Meagan Davis were the only Americans taking highest honours in an FEI test.

The CDI Intermediaire I Freestyle was won by Colombian Dr. Cesar Parra. Riding Ann Whitten/Horses Unlimited's Hanoverian breeding stallion Pik L (by Pik Bube II x Abajo xx), Parra confirmed his Inter I dominance by winning the kur and becoming Devon's Small Tour champion and FEI High Point rider for the second consecutive year.
