Dressage Rider Lily Chiu Zilo Carries Olympic Torch in the Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue Chiu-Zilo was born in Taipei and later moved to Hong Kong with her family. The Wellington resident represented her country in the 2007 Asian Games with her Dutch Warmblood mare, Windsor’s Mira, making the long journey to Qatar to represent Hong Kong. The three-member team also included Jacqueline Wing Ying Siu, and Aram Harutune Gregory. In her quest to qualify to represent her country in the 2008 Olympic Games Chiu-Zilo has been making leaps and bounds in her training with Michelle Gibson on her grand prix mount, Stradivari 14, a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding she purchased from Hubertus Schmidt. Hong Kong has just one spot for a dressage rider in the Olympic Games. To make it to this year’s Olympic Games, Zilo will need two qualifying scores of 64 percent at a CDI and those scores must come from an "O" judge. Current plans are to compete at the upcoming Lamplight CDI, Illinois, and Raleigh CDI, NC. Go Lily, we are rooting for you!!! Lily Zilo Hopes to Be Hong Kong’s Olympic Dressage Rider |
