CDI-W/Y/J Raleigh - Dressage Comes in All Sizes at the 2008 Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trials

Teresa Butta is a 2008 Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trials Veteran

This will be Teresa’s fourth trip to the Eastern Selection Trials.  In 2006 at Raleigh, Teresa won the 5-Year-Old Division on her Dutch gelding, Unitas.  She and Unitas went on that summer to represent the United States at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Verden, Germany.  Last year at the Trials Teresa and Unitas placed third in the 6-Year-Old Division, and she was third with Fro in the 5-Year-Old Division.

Teresa believes that “at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether the horse is big or small.  As long as they have three good gaits, they can be developed into wonderful dressage horses.

There is a place, especially among amateur riders, for all sizes of horses.  Bigger is not automatically better.  The horse’s inner qualities must always shine through.”
