Olympic News - From Gil Merrick in Aachen - Managing Director USA Dressage Sport Programs

Training Under the Lights

In Hong Kong the horses will train in the early morning hours before the sun becomes too intense, and the competition is scheduled for after 7:30 PM each day during the Games.  That means the competition will be held under flood lights, so we are training regularly here after 10 PM to mimic the conditions we will experience in Hong Kong.

All of the quarantine arrangements and training here in Aachen have been coordinated by Peden Bloodstock Ltd. (who will also fly every horse competing in the Olympic Games to Hong Kong) and they are doing a fantastic job of ensuring that every measure is taken to enable the teams who are here to prepare for the Games to the best of their ability.
