Business Expansion Opens the Door for Dressage Olympian Lisa Wilcox to Take on More Top Horses
Wilcox is one of America's leading international competitors. With Relevant, she was a member of the Silver-Medal winning U.S. Dressage Team at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in which she also finished fifth individually. She followed that up a year later with an Individual Silver Medal at the 2003 Open European Championships and the next year was a member of America's Bronze-Medal winning Dressage Team at the 2004 Olympic Games. Wilcox spent 12 years training and competing in Europe before moving back to the U.S. in 2006. And since her return, she's been busy building her American clientele from her base in Florida. Her successes in the FEI show ring this past year with the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Passionelle, owned by Wilcox and Gigi Cunliffe, and with Naomi, a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Janet Bell and Tom Benson, has put Wilcox in high demand as an FEI trainer and rider. But until now, she has not been able to meet that demand. "I've wanted to be available to take on more FEI-level horses, but needed additional space," Wilcox said. "With the move to Tuny's barn, I'm now able to do that." This means Wilcox has now set her sights high on drawing in horses with the potential to one day be part of a U.S. team. And that's good news for horse owners looking for a premier rider and trainer with experience in the international show ring. Her business expansion is also great news for talented riders looking for a top-notch teacher and coach. "With this expansion, it also means that I'm able to work with more talented horse and rider pairs and I'm really looking forward to that," Wilcox said. During the course of her dressage career, Wilcox has trained with some of the best dressage trainers in the world, including Herbert Rehbein and Ernst Hoyos. In Europe, she showed she had the talent and skill to compete with the best in the heart of the dressage world, earning success with numerous horses, including her two well-known partners Rohdiamant and her Olympic mount Relevant.
