Dressage Team Determined for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games

The Collecting Gaits Farm /USEF Dressage Festival of Champions, the annual event held at the headquarters for the United States Equestrian Team in Gladstone, New Jersey is the pinnacle for the best of the best in American Dressage. It is held over 2 weekends and features five Championships. The Olympic level equestrian sport was also the final selection trial for the US Dressage Team for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games. One missing all-star from competition was Steffen Peters, whose uncontested year in 2009 gave his horse Ravel a “buy”, meaning Peters is already a team member. That could not keep Peters away as he took the “red eye” from LA after winning a Grand Prix class in California with an 82%, to provide commentary for the live feed from usefnetwork.com during the Grand Prix Freestyle.

An expanded audience for 2010 saw America’s top talent, the best of the best from west to east, north and south, and one rider from Germany whose owners, sponsors, trainers and riders have invested their all into the highest goal for American Dressage. Having the commentary provided throughout the entire competition entertains, teaches, and explains the very technical sport for spectators. Having Peters a rider and international competitior and trainer provides his perspective and knowledge of all the horses and riders was a an interesting variation from the judging angle.

“I think I see a teammate coming down the center line” was Peters comment on the usefnetwork.com live feed on the last moment of Todd Flettrich and Otto’s Grand Prix Freestyle which scores a final result of 75.600. The top three riders, Tina Konyot, Todd Flettrich, and Katherine Bateson Chandler will be joining Peters in Kentucky this September to represent our country on the first week of the International competition being held for the first time on American soil.
