It was Caroline Roffman’s last year competing at the North American Young Riders’ Championships, and even after winning the DelGiorno Dances Her Way to a Dressage Freestyle Gold at NAJYRC for Dressage and the Team Bronze Medal, she was ready to move on even before closing ceremonies. “Young Riders had been an amazing journey for me.” said Roffman who competed this year with a very new, very talented yet very sensitive horse, Accent Agu. “But I am ready to move on now.” The full time working student/trainer/rider for Legacy Farms in Wellington, Florida will be bringing two four-year-olds from South Florida to the Markel/USEF National Young Horse Championships, set to begin with the horse inspection on Wednesday, August 19 at Lamplight Equestrian Center, in Wayne, Illinois.

Roffman with be riding her own Bon Chance, an American bred from Marefield Meadows, Inc. Bon Chance is a four-year-old gelding by Belissimo M out of the Weltmeyer mare, Wintersong.  Roffman started the young gelding this winter in the Young Horse classes this winter at The Palm Beach Dressage Derby.

In addition she will also be showing for Global Dressage Sales the talented young mare, Barcarole, by Baroncelli, currently featured for sale in Dressagedaily’s Horsemarket. “She is such a nice young horse- I just hope she sticks around until after I get to show her! She has shown all over the US already and has taken it all in better than are old show horses. She walks off the trailer looks around and says ‘Look at me I’m here- lets go!’ She has won every class she has been shown in- walked into the indoor at Raleigh never blinked an eye. She has all the makings of a top FEI horse and a brain to boot. She has great blood lines and would be excellent to breed down the road. She hacks out around White Fences on the buckle and is a pleasure to work around. She truly is a GREAT horse. She will without a doubt be a horse for someone’s future and will certainly be one to keep an eye on in the right rider’s hands.” photo by Susan J. Stickle

Like most competitors travelling to Wayne, Illinois, they will be setting off this weekend to settle in for next week. Stay tuned to dressagedaily for coverage of this prestigious event sponsored by Markel Equine Insurance.
